Lucille Price Battle; a retired teacher at the former Thomas Shields Elementary School, spoke on the Rosenwald School during a recent Senior and community meeting. Thomas Shields Elementary' was once a Rosenwald School. Battle shared many of the activities, including ·the potbelly stove for heating. This group meets at 11 a.m. every third Wednesday at the Thomas Shields Community Center in Hobgood. The meetings feature speakers and resources and the public is encouraged to attend.
